I am often asked what is the difference between MC based, Social & Pleasure, and civic/ non-profit Social Clubs..
This is important to me since we are often invited to parties because we are a SC & we wear vests...
SMC:
MC based Social Clubs are strictly for women, rules vary by states & regions BUT they formally came into existence in the 60's and their primary propose is to support their chosen MC.
S&PC:
The Social & Pleasure Club type SC, is prominent in the South & Midwest, these clubs are largely associated with Mardi Gras style type parades called 2nd lining (south) & hosting "club sets" at their home club/bar (Chicago/Detroit/Midwest).
